CAN YOU HELP?
The defendant, Hasan Fayas GYNDY, is accused of murdering his pregnant daughter, who was 19 years old at the time of the offence, in Cologne on the evening of 4 January 2017. The daughter had decided to leave her parents’ home. After she had packed her belongings and told the accused that she wanted to seek refuge in a women’s shelter, he offered to drive her there. The two subsequently left the family home in the accused’s car. Later that evening, Hassan Fayas GYNDY killed his daughter in some bushes near Höhenberger Ring in Cologne. A possible motive may be that he did not accept his daughter’s relationship or the fact that she was expecting a child by a member of another religious community, and wanted to restore the family’s honour.
After the crime, Hassan Fayas GYNDY fled to Iraq. From there, he contacted the police. He revealed the location of his daughter’s body. His whereabouts have been unknown ever since. The suspect is of the Yazidi faith.
